My Summary
About Me
Hello and a big welcome to Phia’s friends (Nanny service)
A little about me;
I'm 27, I have been the family and friend babysitter since the age of 13 grew up surrounded by many children looked after them, I have been a brownie leader which is girls aged 7-10 which is providing activities and safeguarding them and also do rainbows which is girls aged 5-7, so experience with most ages also, completed my work experience at college in nurseries.
I have been out of work for about a year due to unforeseen personal circumstances. But prior to this I worked as a deputy manager of a nursery for a few months. Before this I was third in charge and a baby room leader of a baby room for 3 years but all in all I have worked in nurseries for the past 6 years which has gained me my level 3 childcare qualification.
As a young adult I am fully aware of my intentions to work with young children I have ensured that the experiences I have encountered to date are ones that will help work towards me achieving my goals. I have completed my level 3 BTEC Diploma in Health and Social care which Has gained me a job in childcare. And have completed my level 3 qualification in childcare whilst working nurseries.
Phia’s Friends Ethos;
- I am a huge believer in a child’s childhood experiences shaping their adulthood life. With this in mind I like to focus my care around a gentle approach using lots of positive reinforcement and minimal negative language. I like to use terms such as “No Thank-you” “That’s not kind” and encourage children to use their “Kind hands” and “Walking feet”.
- I believe expressing emotions and making sure they are met appropriately is important. Children will be provided with a safe space in which they can show their emotions and talk about them in a non judgmental way.
- I do not believe in using punishments such as “Time out”
- Working with the parents closely to ensure their child’s needs are met is important for not only myself but the children too.
- Children all progress at different speeds, if a child is not progressing in line with the EYFS development matters then I will use this as a guide to what areas need to be targeted in order to support their development.
I do like to take the children out and about as long as parents are happy to baby groups or just for a nature walk. I do have my own stroller if it’s easier and have age appropriate car seats aswell.
My Experience
I have come out of working in nurseries a year ago due to personal circumstances after giving 6 years to them. The most recent nursery was for 0-5 year olds and I worked as the deputy manager for 6 months before I had to leave due to personal circumstances. I have been in nursery settings for the past 6 years, so I have experience with most ages nappy changing in correct ways bottle feeding, educational learning, healthy eating etc... I was most recently based in the main 2-5 year olds room running the room alongside supporting the manager and running the nursery when she is not present. Previously I was a room leader in the baby room (0-2 years) for 3 years. So I have to make bottles and feed and settle children for sleeps etc and keep them entertained. However I was originally before this I based in the 2-3 year old room which was the most challenging room as they are always on the go getting up to mischief and always need to be watched.
I have also been a brownie leader. This role allowed me the opportunity to manage and arrange various activities such as group games, explorations and team building. I was responsible for leading a team of girls aged 7-10 years old and am their first port of contact for any queries or questions that they may have. I have completed my adult leader qualification which enables me to have an even more responsible role with the young people.
I was also a Rainbow leader. This role came about after being an Assistant Brownie leader for a few years I was asked to open up and take on the Rainbow group at our unit, this enabled me to take on responsibility of the girls aged 5-7 years old and set up activities and entertain the girls while also developing their intellectual needs. This has built up my confidence and knowledge of the needs of children that age.

We currently have Sophia as a nanny for our 6 month old and she has been us for the last 2 months. She’s reliable and great with him! I would highly recommend her.
She has done nothing short of constantly going the extra mile. My kids love her immensely. She is always on time. Always asking if you need anything else. One time I was running out of milk, and couldn't go to get any so i asked her if she could help us in our very difficult situation and she was glad to help. I'm a single dad and I have 3 kids under the age of 5. I have a full time job and no car. She has helped me and supported our family as if she was one of us. She is a very sympathetic person.
I was really nervous about leaving my kids but Sophia kept me updated the whole time! My son loved her and we will definitely hire her again! Thank you Sophia xx
We needed a babysitter for our wedding, our 2 year old is normally very shy around new people so we booked her a few times before hand. The positive reviews could not have been more accurate, Sophia was absolutely amazing with him and we would highly recommend.
So many people commented on how brilliant she was and how relaxed our son was with her.
We were nervous about using a babysitter as we had only ever had a family member sit for our children, but Sophia has been amazing! Our children, aged 9, 5 & 2 have all loved seeing her and settled really well when she has been here. It means everything to us that the children are happy and it means we can enjoy a guilt-free evening out knowing that they are in good hands!
